We can be shown things or taught a subject for an hour a day, and still not retain a thing. Trust me, I’m guilty of it myself.
It seems that we tend to take things, no matter their importance, with a grain of salt. So when it comes to something as important as driving safety, I truly believe that to see a real change in our youth, we have to do something that goes deeper than the surface.
What is it going to take to make it personal?
It only takes one.
It only takes one reason to make the right decision when it matters.
My reason if that I cannot possibly imagine how incredibly embarrassing it would be for me to wake up in a hospital bed because I thought it was cool to not to wear my seatbelt or to drive under the influence. Not to mention, how disappointing it would be for my mom to realize that I had dismissed all of her efforts to ensure my safety, and set a horrible example for my younger brothers. The worst part, is that that’s a good scenario. That is a scenario in which I live.
This is what makes driving safety a habit and not an empty promise for me.
So, is it going to take another tragic story on the news to impact you? What will be your reason to value the importance of arriving alive?
