CAPS Comes to Washington
by Molly L and Tess
After hearing great things about the new CAPS Programs, we decided to take a closer look at what they have to offer.
We started by interviewing Mrs. Cathy Jinkerson, the CAPS Business Instructor. She gave us a good look at what students learn in the CAPS Business Program. We then interviewed Kailey Robinson and Sara Hamer about their perspective on the class. They shared with us what they do everyday and what it’s like to actually be a CAPS Business student.
We then shot some B-roll of the students in the classroom. We even got some footage of the students working on their projects.
After getting all the footage we needed from the CAPS Business Program, we thought we’d take a look at the other CAPS Pathway, Teaching Careers.
We started by interviewing Mrs. Jenny Meers, the Teaching Careers instructor. She explained what students learn in the class, along with projects the students are working on. We also interviewed some of her students that shared their personal experience in the class. They told us how Teaching Careers benefited their future careers in education. We even stuck around to film the students presenting children's books that they wrote.
After we slated and logged all of our interviews, we wrote our script. Our script came together as we incorporated everything that we gathered. Editing was simple, and before we knew it, our story was finished.
We really enjoyed working on this story together, and we hope you enjoy it!
