Girl Scouts Benefit WHS Student, Grace Koch
by Molly L, Autumn and Faith
We were very interested in young women who choose to further their journey in Girl Scouts in high school. We were excited when we got this topic, because we know one Girl Scout in particular who chose to stay involved with Girl Scouts during her senior year.
Grace Koch has been in Girl Scouts for 11 years. She was kind enough to share her story with us. She first told us about her involvement and personal history in Girl Scouts. Grace then informed us about her Gold Award project. She talked about “Nature Trail Interactive,” the project she submitted for her Gold Award. Hearing about Grace’s involvement with the Gold Award project was very inspiring. She is a determined individual who doesn’t give up on her goals.
Although we were off to a great start hearing Grace’s story, making it all come together was tough. The first part of the editing process came easily, but we struggled with b-roll. It was difficult to get b-roll that pertained to the story, because we had very limited resources. We mainly had to use photos and we lacked video b-roll with NAT sound, so we needed to cut the story’s time down in order to adequately work with the footage we had.
Despite some setbacks, the story came together nicely. We were all proud of our project, and we hope you enjoy it, too. Grace is an inspiration.
