Going into it, I had big expectations since it was the sequel Finding Nemo. Going to see Finding Nemo at the movies with my dad is one of my earliest memories, and to this day I enjoy watching it.
I was sort of expecting Finding Dory to be lame and not as good as the original. While I still think Finding Nemo is better, mostly because I grew up with it in my childhood, it’s a close call.
The basic setup for the movie is that a blue tang fish named Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, begins to regain some memories from her early childhood and sets out on a mission to find her parents. Many new memorable characters are introduced such as Hank, the octopus, and Destiny, the whale shark.
While the movie has laughs, it still manages to be serious and, in my opinion, more dark than the original. However, it is still a family-friendly movie, so obviously it doesn’t get that dark. Overall, the movie is another blockbuster hit and a fitting sequel for such a great movie.
Check it out before it leaves the big screen!
