Juggling Two Sports
In early February the class received calendars for March. I noticed that I had my first backpack story, which is a story I do all by myself and not with a team.
The problem I faced was figuring out what my topic was going to be. After juggling multiple topic choices, I thought a story about my long-time friend, Adam, would be great because he participates in two sports during the same season.
I first had to set up an interview with him during school because of his very busy schedule thanks to the spring sports season. I felt that an interview on the track would be a perfect location to represent what Adam is all about.
After the interview, it was time to slate and log the footage to decide what to use and what to ditch. After that, I had to piece the story together and create the script. Putting the story together wasn't too difficult because Adam's answers were easy to follow.
Once the script was approved by MT, the editing process began. The only major struggle of editing was getting b-roll, but thankfully my fellow Blue Jay Journal TV classmates have been doing their extra duty assignments. So, there was plenty video footage of baseball and track on our external hard drive.
I also asked Adam for pictures of him playing baseball and running track throughout his life. He supplied me with plenty of pictures to complete the story.
I enjoyed creating the story from start to finish. It was certainly something to remember, being my first backpack story. I hope you enjoy it!
