I got my license in April of this year, and I don’t regret getting it. Yes, it was a whole lot cheaper when I wasn’t driving, but life is more convenient now. There are both pros and cons of having your license, but in the long run, there are more cons than pros.
I’m lucky enough that my parents do not make me have a job, so I am not the one paying for my car. My dad lets me know how pricey everything is just because he wants me to have a general idea of how much it actually costs to drive.
One of the first pricey elements of a car is gas. Getting gas is expensive wherever you go, but no matter what you do, you will need to get gas. The other element that is required when having a car is insurance. Insurance is definitely not cheap either, but the less experience you have as a driver, the more it will cost. The next highly priced element are tickets. Thankfully, I have never gotten a ticket while I’ve been driving, and I surely don't want to.
Personally, I think teens should wait a little longer to start driving and to get a car. With those months you are not driving, you could be saving up a whole lot of money that you can put toward college.
