Shane Blankenship - PGA Golfer
When I saw it was my turn to produce a story on my own, I immediately had a topic in mind.
Since I began my high school golf career, I’ve been working with a golf swing coach name Shane Blankenship. I’ve known Shane for almost three years, and he has taught me so many things about my golf swing and how each detail affects my entire game.
Shane is also a PGA golfer and has won several titles. I knew I had to tell his story.
I started by planning out in my head how I wanted the story to look. I knew I needed a variety of b-roll shots and interesting angles to keep the story moving.
I drove up to Sullivan Country Club, which is where Shane works, for an interview after school one day. I started with shooting b-roll while the sun was still up, and the evening sun made for great light on all of my shots.
The interview was done afterwards in the clubhouse, and it turned out as well as I hoped. Shane explained to me how he got to the point where he is today, playing professional golf, and how many titles he had won over the years.
The editing process was a bit more difficult than I anticipated. I had to be sure I had a variety of b-roll throughout the story to keep it interesting. I also had to rearrange some voice overs to make the story flow better. But, overall, I liked how it turned out. I enjoyed getting to interview my golf instructor and learn more about his success.
Having Shane share his experiences with the PGA makes it more personal and puts a face with the organization. I hope people who do not know about the PGA will learn from this story by seeing how men make a career by playing the sport they love. Enjoy!
