WMS has a New FFA Chapter
by Jon, Cassidy, and Zach
Mrs. Kaylin Bade has changed the way that middle schoolers view agriculture. She worked hard and created her very own Middle School FFA chapter, right here, in Washington, Missouri. We wanted to share her story with our viewers.
When we went over to the middle school to film some b-roll of their monthly meeting, we were not sure what we would be walking into. After we got to the meeting, we watched and listened to what some of the members thought of the middle school having a FFA chapter, and there was only positive input!
We watched the members study grains and how plants grow, decorate ornaments for the Festival of Trees, color cards for local supporters of agriculture, all while enjoying a few snacks from their “Thanksgiving meal”. We filmed students participating in all these activities, and watched all the laughs and smiles spread throughout the room.
A couple of days later, we went back and interviewed some of the officers. It was very informational to hear how FFA has personally affected some of these officers. For example, Claire has always wanted to live on a farm and not live in the city like she has in the past. She clearly loves agriculture and having this opportunity at WMS.
We have to admit, that even we are excited to see where these students go, and how they change the future of agriculture. Their enthusiasm was amazing!
We also took the time to interview the woman who made this happen, Kaylin Bade. Her love for her students and FFA shines through in her interview.
After collecting all the footage, we slated and logged everything, wrote the script, and then edited the individual parts. In time they all came together in our final product! We are very pleased with how the story turned out, and we hope you enjoy it, also!
