CAPS Business Program at FRCC
by Jack Lackman
I decided to do this story (as my first backpack story) because I went on a visit to Four Rivers Career Center and visited the CAPS business program. I was really interested in how it worked and what the students did in the class.
I interviewed four people who are currently taking the class; Cierstyn Jacquin, Olivia Emke, Drew Holtmeyer, and Colton Souders. Each of the students had a unique view of the class and what they enjoyed the most about it. They also shared how they incorporate global business and entrepreneurship into their coursework.
After slating and logging my interviews, I started to put my story together. Insight from the students on projects and activities within the classroom really helped this story come together.
Thanks to my fellow BJJTV staff member Brennan Randolph, I had a lot of amazing b-roll I could use for the story, but I just needed a little bit more. Colton Souders and I went downtown one day and got more b-roll to use for certain scenes where students talk about their projects for the city of Washington.
Overall I am proud of this story. I hope that it has some good information about CAPS and encourages people to join the class if they are on the fence.
