After researching the topics we decided that Care4Ghana would provide for us the in-depth story we were looking for.
One of the leaders of the organization is a registered nurse at Washington’s hospital. She and her daughter, a Washington High School sophomore, have fundraised for these trips that have saved many lives.
We traveled to their house for the interview to provide them a comfortable environment to discuss Care4Ghana. We used a light kit to ensure good lighting and catchlight in the eyes.
They also gave us a scrapbook of pictures from their first trip and a flash drive with a slide show to use as b-roll.
After the interview, we slated and logged to choose which soundbites we wanted to use for our story. While writing the script, we easily pieced each soundbite together, producing a seamless story.
Editing was a breeze. Laying out the soundbites and cutting out excessive pauses came pretty naturally. We then were able to use the pictures they provided as b-roll. The whole thing quickly came together as an emotional and heart touching story.
We are very proud of the story we produced, as it will probably be one of the last we will produce for the rest of our high school career. We hope you enjoy it, too and will consider donating to this worthy cause.
