Cherish every moment. Don’t wish these days away. Make your time here count, and take full advantage of the opportunities presented to you by getting involved.
I can personally say that my involvement here at Washington High School has served as the source of many of my favorite memories. It is through my extracurricular activities that I have found my passions in life and established many unbreakable friendships.
My participation on the cross country team definitely stands out as one of the most impactful aspects of my high school career. I’ve had the privilege of running along side an incredible group of ladies for the past two years. We’ve shared countless miles, early mornings, inside jokes, and long bus rides and have grown from teammates to a family.
Cross county has deepened my love for running. It has acted as an escape and an outlet from the stressors of life and has allowed me to unleash an amount of strength I never knew I had.
Without cross country, my time in high school would have looked much different. I wouldn’t have the same friends or passion I do today.
So, I encourage you, fellow high school students, to get involved! Find something you’re passionate about. There is a club or activity for everyone. High school is only your home for a short time. The time spent at WHS is what you make of it, so make it count!
