Shopping has never been easier. With just a few clicks, you are able to travel the world visiting markets as far as China or Japan without ever leaving the comfort of your own home. You simply select the item of your choice and your purchase will be delivered right to your front door. Online shopping is a luxury that saves us time and money, and gives us access to a variety of different products.
But this convenient way of shopping can sometimes result in an unsuccessful outcome. I have personally experienced both the benefits and stressors of online shopping.
My latest online shopping experience involved a desperate hunt for a Homecoming dress. The Homecoming dance was a week away and I still had yet to find one. After doing a lot of online browsing, I finally found the dress of my dreams!
I placed an order and was told it would be about three to five business days before it came in. Four days passed by, and the dress finally arrived at my front door. I tore open the box and pulled on the dress only to be faced with my worst nightmare: the dress didn’t fit.
With three days left until the dance, no possible alterations to be done, or another free day in my schedule to do anymore shopping, I drove to the store late that evening scouring the racks for something to wear. I had hardly any time to look through the remaining dresses before the workers approached me and told me that they were closing.
When almost all hope was lost, I discovered a dress in my size and style. Without hesitation, I added it to my cart and had it mailed to my door with express shipping. The dress showed up at my house the day before Homecoming. I held my breath and prayed as I pulled it on and it was a perfect fit! I had found my dress and I was able to dance the night away!
I am now able to look back on this experience and laugh at how everything played out, but at the time it was very stressful. Although online shopping was what got me into the mess in the first place, it’s also what got me out of it. The experience taught me some valuable lessons when it comes to my future online purchases: don’t wait until the last minute, always check the sizing chart, and never forget to appreciate express shipping!
