The Al Matzes Scholarship
and Color Run
I was interested in producing this story because I didn't exactly know what the Al Matzes Scholarship was. I had heard of it and knew we now have a Color Run to help fund it, but I didn't know the details. I felt it would be a great story to tell.
I first interviewed Michelle Turner, which wasn't too hard because she is our BJJTV Adviser and she knew Al Matzes. MT gave a great interview. Then, I set up an interview with Samantha Loepker. She helped put on the Color Run this year and worked hard to make it a success.
I wanted to challenge myself on this story, since it would be my last one ever in high school. I asked Samantha questions that would flow along with Michelle's interview. I wanted to create a story that would have no need for voice overs. I have seen several stories told in this manner, and I wanted to rise to that challenge.
When It was time to edit I was pleased of how the interview footage laid out. Samantha and Michelle's interviews complimented each other and flowed well. Thankfully, I had footage from the Color Run, as well as pictures of Al Matzes and his family.
The story came together great and I hope this encourages more people to apply for the scholarship or participate in the Color Run next year.
