We were not very educated on CrossFit, so we were very excited to learn more about the topic while also producing a story for our audience.
We knew that Mrs. Loepker, Ms. Meza, and Max Grimes do CrossFit, so we scheduled interview times and prepared a list of questions! All of the interviews went well. We gathered lots of information, not only about CrossFit, but the community within it.
When slating and logging our interviews, we found multiple sound bites that we knew we could use in our story. To finish all of the planning for our story by deadline, the three of us met multiple times after school. The three of us worked very well together and had a fun time writing our script. The extra work was worth it.
To enhance our story, we got lots of b-roll. We went to CrossFit Washington and stayed for nearly 90 minutes to get footage of people lifting weights and doing cardio. The b-roll we got was awesome, and we had many clips we used in our story.
Once all the planning was finished, we were very pleased with what had. Starting the editing process was pretty exciting because we had a vision for the story. That vision made editing go smoothly. All of the parts fit perfectly like a puzzle! We had many natural sound pops and even a few shouts from the CrossFit participants, which fit well with the story since it was about them supporting each other within the CrossFit community.
Planning, filming, and editing the CrossFit story was a lot of fun for us. We are so proud of the final product, and learned so much from the experience. It is our hope that you enjoy this story, too.
