When my mom and I moved into our house about three years ago, I had my pick of four different bedrooms. Two were on the uppermost level, and the other two were in the basement. My friends and family told me to take the ones on the upper level, and make one my bedroom and the other a craft room. They were right next to each other, with a bathroom in between them.
The remaining two bedrooms were downstairs. One had a huge walk-in closet. The other had a bathroom attached.
As much advice as I got about choosing a bedroom, I ended up picking the smallest room in the whole house. I chose the one downstairs with the bathroom attached.
Even though my room is small, it is quite unique. There are five doors. One is the entrance and separates my room from my kitchenette. One is the entrance to my bathroom, which is pretty basic, but I decorated with a beach theme. Yet another door leads to my garage, and the last door leads to my closet. The final door in my room leads to what I like to call The Cave or The Harry Potter Room, which is really the tiny room underneath the stairs. My friends and I filled it with pillows and blankets. We also covered the walls with posters, paintings, etc.
Now to the actual meat of this blog post, my room itself. The first wall of my room is covered in twine and mini clothespins that hold up pictures of my friends and I. This part of my room probably requires the most maintenance. I update the pictures about every other week.
At the foot of my bed, I have my custom-made pink locker that is like Sharpay’s from High School Musical. On top of the locker, I have a teal record player.
The third wall of my room is occupied by three bookshelves. The first one is filled with books has decor on top. Above that bookshelf are four drawings of me that my best friend, Olivia Briggs, gave me. On the floor right next to my first bookshelf is Dr. Ness. Dr. Ness is a ceramic statue of a monkey in a lab coat. I got him at a garage sale and he is my prized possession. I built my second bookshelf in shop class in eighth grade. It is also filled with books and topped with different crystals, rocks, and a small marble statue of Apollo. Above it is a chain of tin dolphins that I got on vacation in Hawaii. The third bookshelf is completely filled with decor and memorabilia.
Until next time gang,
