My daughter has an uncanny way of finding things. Just in the past five days, she has located:
She's right. I have to admit this past school year in BJJTV I was hopeful it would go smooth, but I wasn't looking for it to go down as one of my favorite years with BJJTV to date. I didn't walk into this year expecting to be named the 2016 National Broadcast Adviser by JEA or a Tools for Teachers Grant recipient. Beyond those wonderful honors, the students on BJJTV staff did an amazing job, too! We had a NOYS member/honoree, took 2nd and 3rd in the state-wide "Battle of the Belt" (Buckle Up) PSA contest, and our experiences at Journalism STL and the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association left me jaw-dropped in amazement. I can't fail to mention that we were home of the JEA Missouri Student Journalist of the Year, too! Our year was so stellar that we even had a local news outlet cover what we do! This article by Kyle Quick at KLPW really touched my heart: http://www.klpw.com/articles/blue-jay-journal-tv-soars-above-competition Overall, this year was more than I was ever looking for. However, the true joy was how much the staff bonded as a whole. Friendships were formed. Trust was earned. Laughter (and some tears) were shared. It was a beautiful time when I look at the year as a whole. My daughter is right, sometimes it is when we are not looking that great things find us. We are surrounded by beautiful things and great moments. When they find us when we aren't looking, that's a huge blessing indeed. Until next time, ~ MT |
