New Missouri River Bridge Impacts Community
by Matt, Brennan, and Emma P-S
All three of us ended up filming the bridge opening ceremony for an extra duty and while we were at it we decided to do a few interviews, too. Our BJJTV adviser said that it made sense for us to produce the story together since we had already gotten all of the b-roll and on-the-spot interviews.
At the ceremony, we had the opportunity to interview Washington community members, the chief of police, and a MoDOT official.
Putting together the script was relatively easy because we already had the interviews done and had some b-roll. We were able to easily write the script to fit the b-roll we had. We really wanted to do a stand-up with the bridge in the background, so we all decided on a day that would work for us to record it along with some extra b-roll.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a day where the weather would be good, so we had to settle for a dreary, overcast day. After filming the stand-up, we laid out all the footage and found that we actually did a good job filming b-roll, so laying b-roll over the interviews was simple.
Overall, all three of us are really happy with this story. We feel it does a good job shedding some light on the brand new Missouri River bridge. Also, we just had a good time working as a team together! We hope you enjoy this story as much as we did producing it.
