Sheba the Comfort Dog
by Emma, Tess, and Morgan
We decided to produce a story about Comfort Dogs and the services they provide for communities. We knew that Immanuel Lutheran Church and School had recently gotten a comfort dog named Sheba, so we had our story right there.
We went to Immanuel after school one day and we interviewed two of Sheba’s caregivers, Shannan Robinson and Susie Blatt. They were extremely kind and had lots of information to share about themselves and Sheba. It was great getting to know them. We also met Sheba, and absolutely adored her gentle and caring nature.
The following week, we interviewed two more caregivers, Wilma Adams and Debbie Schwartz. We also spoke with Deaconess Kelly Hardt. They each had great things to say about their relationship with Sheba.
After that, we started piecing together a script. Everything fell into place perfectly and we knew we had a solid base to go off of before editing.
We went on Facebook and searched for Sheba’s page, and fortunately there were hundreds of pictures of her. We used as many as we could, along with some footage we got of her showing us some commands.
Overall, the editing process was smooth and went as planned. Some things we had to change up, add, or take out, but the final product turned out better than any of us expected. We are all extremely proud of this story and hope you enjoy it!
