Teens Face Higher Stress Levels
by Kaden Meyer
Since the beginning of third quarter, I noticed an increase in tweets and social media posts from my fellow classmates complaining about the amount of stress they are under due to school. It got me thinking about what makes students so much more stressed today than they were in the past. I wanted to explore this subject.
Finding people to interview was not hard. Nearly every high school student I interviewed had a strong opinion about the issue. I got plenty of good soundbites from my interviews and was soon ready to start on paperwork. Slating and logging, then script writing went smoothly due to how well my interviews went.
B-roll for this story seemed easy enough. All I needed was footage of students in class, as well as planners outlining to-do lists for school.
I was most worried about the editing process because I had never worked alone on a story before. However, editing went a lot better than I expected, and everything seemed to fall in to place.
I greatly enjoyed working on this story and am very happy with how it turned out. I hope this shines a light on the kind of stress teens are under today.
