What Exactly is Regret?
by Payton Dubberke and Morgan Gordy
When we first decided to produce a story over the topic of regret, we didn’t know exactly what we wanted to do. One thing we knew for sure was that we wanted to do some on-the-spot interviews. We wanted to see if people would say they have lot of regrets, none, or just sit look at us like we were weird. After all, who goes around and asks people what their biggest regrets are?
After we got our initial on-the-spot interviews, we wanted to talk more to Blake Peters. He opened up and said that his biggest regret is not having a close relationship with his dad. We all know that we cannot change what has happened in the past, but we can work to change what will happen in the future. Blake seemed to have a good grasp of this idea and had plans in action to help repair his relationship with his father.
We also decided to interview WHS Guidance Counselor Bradley Kuntzman. He gave some good insight on the topic of regret, too.
Once we had all the interviews, putting together the script came quite naturally, but while editing the story we knew that we needed to get pictures of Blake and his father. We also realized we needed footage of Blake just around the school with his friends. Since the story twists into one that focuses a lot of him, b-roll of featuring him was critical.
Overall, we really enjoy how the story turned out. We also love the funny twist at the beginning and hope you do, too!
P.S. If you have regrets, we hope you can turn things around and fix them.
