Life goes on. These three words can go different ways. They could be happy, like when you have a good day at school, and it leads to something you’ve been looking forward to, such as a Friday night football game or a party. It could mean you’ve had a mediocre day and you go to bed to wake up to the next day. If we are honest, more than likely, this saying means a bad thing.
Life goes on. We all go through struggles. Everybody is fighting demons that nobody knows about, but life goes on. We all fight our demons and don’t tell anyone about them. Like when a relative is diagnosed with cancer, it can be a stressful situation. I know from experience how hard it can be. It’s not just hard on the patient. Everyone gets stressed out. We put up that imaginary wall and hold onto every sad emotion. We all try to fight alone. We are all a little insecure. We don’t like to share our feelings. We just go day by day living the same life. We need to share our demons with others. The people around us are here for us. There are people out there for you. They can help you. Sadly, the truth is that most people decide to hide their demons because they are too embarrassed to share.
Life goes on. We all wake up and start the day, but how many of us are excited to wake up on a daily basis? I know that a lot of times I am not that enthusiastic about waking up early for school. Sometimes, I am excited to wake up. For example, I love waking up on Christmas morning. The smell of cedar and the sound of Christmas carols. Other days, I do not want to get up. Like the first day of school when I won’t have summer vacation for 180 more days. It makes me upset but life goes on.
Life goes on. You know, the more you say it, the heavier it sounds. Life shouldn’t just go on, should it? It’s life. It’s not some story that resets at night. It’s a novel and each day is a new chapter. Life is too short for it to just go on. When you have this mindset, it has a negative effect on your life. We start to treat life like it is just an everyday activity. Some people don’t get to experience life as long as others. Some live 90 years or more, and others sadly don’t make it out of the hospital when they are born.
Before I go, I want to leave you with a quote from Ferris Bueller. He said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
So in conclusion, live a little, laugh a lot, but most importantly, have fun. We only get one life. Don’t waste it.
Until next time,
Ethan Roewe
